im a jw and in the last three years i have studied a lot the topic of the earth being flat.
i have a good scientific background so im not stupid or crazy.

I think there are 2 scriptures that refer to the earth as a circle (even that is not strictly true) but 15 describing it as flat.
If your conscience cannot ignore those 15 scriptures you will definitely struggle to continue as a JW.

If My Dad Were To See The Watchtower Org Now
by pale.emperor inas we all know, this org has metamorphosized from one ugly creature to another continuously since it's inception.
but more so it seems in the last 30 years.. i got to thinking what my dad would think if he were to be brought to life for 5 mins to see the way things are now.
how would he even react?.

So much has changed in just 20 years.
From Holy Spirit being only attainable from the printed page not digital to smart phones and the internet being tools of Satan all back tracked on.
Armageddon was supposed to be before the 1914 generation died and within the 20th century.
Spiritual food which was in abundance 5 times a week has been cut drastically and magazines not much more than pamphlets but for me 18,000 partakers of the emblems is laughable as when I last went declining partakers were a sign Armageddon was ever closer.
All the GB were older than me when I got baptised in 1998 but now some are younger as 1935 is no longer the cut off date.
Doctrines and beliefs we thought were set in stone the GB have been forced to change as time marched on showing them up to be false and how expressions used to convince us of supposed "facts" that "clearly" and "evidently" were just the imaginings of a bunch of manipulative control freaks in America and not true prophecies at all!

JWs are what is know as a doomsday or end times cult who are well trained to recruit anyone who may be dissatisfied or disillusioned with the world or their own personal situation with promises of a better life or world once the earth is cleansed by all that they and you feel is wrong with it.
They will latch on to anything they think may appeal to you by listening and watching you very carefully whilst they make various statements. It is called "cold reading" (most fraudsters use it) and your reactions will determine what tactic they will use to entice and lure you into their cult. I learned so much from this forum when first waking up and still continue to learn.
I visit most days and without it I would miss a lot of posters most of whom I've never met. When we lost Eric i cried and although I had never met him felt I knew him as a fellow escapee.
For those who remember Sleeping Beauty and Hairy He Goat they very sadly lost their daughter in an horrific car crash yesterday.
I met them a few times through meetups and kept in touch mainly through Facebook. I cannot imagine the pain they are going through right now.

Library now cleared out
by UnshackleTheChains inwell, it looks like the axe has finally fallen on our kh library.
during a deep clean of the local kh, a brother suddenly informed everyone 'whikst cleaning' that all the old books including bound volumes of the watchtower etc was to be chucked in the skip.. from what i heard, some were taken aback by this and quite annoyed that no announcement was made; that no one was given the choice of taking some of these books home to keep.
i mean the entire collection of studies in the scriptures and others that go back an entire century.

those bloody phones
by zeb infrom the avast company.. on september 8th, residents of hamburg, germany woke up to an unusual sight.
scores of kids were taking to the streets with signs, chanting lines such as “we are here, we are loud because you are just looking at your mobile phones.” and “play with us, not your cell phones!”.
seven-year-old emil rustige pulled the mini-protest together to vent his frustration at his parents for spending more time on their phones than with him.

I love the internet
A world of information at the click of a button and I'm sure without social media and forums I would feel very isolated and lonely.
I see young mums pushing buggies looking at their phones not interacting with their child at all . The child has their own screen to watch.
I don't think screen time will lessen as time goes on. I think it will increase and to keep our hands free but still stay connected I think the next stage will be headsets, glasses or spoken commands, maybe even eye movement to open new pages and websites.
I definitely do not see a reduction in what we do online or time spent doing it.

at the time of this particular case, william hudgings acknowledged being the corporate secretary of the people's pulpit association and acknowledged that his daily duties included the administrative charge of printing of the watchtower magazine, the bible student's monthly, the kingdom news, and other watchtower publications.. (hudgings was also re-elected to the watchtower society board of directors in january 1919.
